Search for Piggies

Well it's that time of year that our kids are in the middle of their frenetic search for 4H pigs. Why they wait until the LAST minute every year, I'll never know. Will they ever learn that if they would put their names in early, and check back often, that this would be a much more enjoyable experience for all? I don't know. You'd think the children of the 4H Swine Leader would be a bit more on top of it (poor Rhett). It is a hard thing for parents to watch their children dig a hole for themselves, and place themselves in it, no less. Argh.

We may have a possible solution, from a place in between Boise and Mountain Home. They have 2 pigs for Canyon County fair. That leaves us one short. C may have to do Ada County fair and get her pig from another grower. If only our sows would have farrowed, this would also be easier. But, that's not the way it went, so...

Wish this blog entry was a little more positive. Maybe the next one?

I know, don't you love it, Em? How funny is that?

Sometimes she uses a lot of words that I have to stand back and think, "wait a minute....do I know what that means?"

LOL

I had a good laugh over Rhett being officially Rhett. He deserves it. He is swarthy and quite the rogue.

I love to be called BFR! What a great compliment!!!!!!

Made my day.

Hope all goes well with the swine.

Mission accomplished. Three soft little pink piggies in the pen. We went to a local farm where he has everyone pick a number and then you choose in that order. The pigs were a bit more than we wanted to spend, but the deed is done.
Yes, that Rhett is a swarthy rogue. ha!

Yay!

But back to the original quesion :-)... maybe farrowing is something to do with having baby piggies? one wonders (if that is so) why it was up to the sows all by their lonesomes?)

I feel so hopefully uninformed & urban-ish.

I also need to say that I was thinking recently I really should come up with names for my family members and the obvious one for dh is "The Professor" but then I thought, hey, Rachel already TOOK that one...

* farrowed, yes - deliver or give birth to a litter of piglets
* and yes it was up to those sows, darnit.

Ems---you could call your "dh" Dear Sir.

Now that would be a good one.

My man isn't even a real professor, but should be.

Hmmm...name yours the Brain.
