I hear some of you say "you never update your blog." I know. I don't. But I just don't have that many interesting things to say all the time like all the rest of you! :-) But I might now, and I'm only 20 days late in doing it. Sorry.
So, I recently turned 40. Wow. I'm just trying to figure out how THAT happened. So, in honor of my 40 years, here are 40 things I am happy about turning 40:
1) on my birthday, nobody put in the paper "lordy, lordy, look who's turning 40." I would have hunted them down.
2) I received NO black balloons. This made me happy.
3) My darling husband gave me a gold locket, like the one that was stolen (I never blogged about the robbery, too depressing), in the very same antique book, Portrait of a Lady.
4) the evening of my birthday, at dinner, my children learned how to make a toast.
5) my friend, Rachel, sent me not one, but 2 music CDs. She loves me.
6) my friend, Nora, sent me a wonderful memory book. I am looking forward to filling it up with memories.
7) my parents called me from New Zealand. Wow.
8) my mother in law gave me a mammogram for my 40th. I am touched by her love and care for me. (I also get lunch out!)
9) my husband took the day off and spent it with little ol' me. We went shopping and ate lunch out.
10) I am happy that now that I am 40, I finally had the guts to go and take voice lessons.
11) I have turned 40 and already reached my goal of learning how to play a musical instrument (guitar). I got a piano keyboard for my birthday, so maybe I'll get to musical instrument number two?
12) now that I'm 40, I like to use the word "fabulous" all the time. Say it. It's fun. Fabulous.
13) now that I'm 40, I don't care that I have wrinkles and gray hair. Daggonit, I earned them.
14) I got lots of chocolate when I turned 40. I will eat one piece a day until it's all gone. Well, maybe two pieces a day.
15) now that I'm 40, I get to say things like, "yes, I'm going to do that. I can do whatever I want. I'm 40."
16) I like eyebrow pencils more now than I ever did before, now that I'm 40. :-)
17) now that I'm 40, I can actually stomach the fact that my oldest child is learning to drive. It seems like I'm actually old enough to have a child old enough.
18) 40 means I'm old enough to know better and too young too care. Okay that was really, really cliche'. I actually don't always know better and I truly do care.
19) 40 means that maybe finally people will stop asking me "are you going to have any more...?" (children, that is)
20) now that I'm 40, I can change my mind whenever I want, like stopping at 20, because right now I can't think of any more reasons of why I'm happy I'm 40. :-) But 20 was fun!
That's all folks

But ours goes up to eleven...
Not one, but two. Two when you are forty one when you are thirty. (British accent is necessary here)
I love how you don't care. I can't wait until I get there!!!!
You were just being your fabulous self!
XO
Em: I was? Fabulous! That's why it went so fast. Because I was just being me. What a good thing.
R: It goes to eleven--don't touch it! It, it--it goes to eleven. Not ten...eleven.
