Mooooo...!

Today the steer comes. #2 child is buying one for a 4H project. The pen is built, the water trough stands ready, the corner feeder bucket will soon be filled. We just hope that he won't be a mean one. His name will be Edward Augustus. "Eddie" for short. He'll be shown and sold at the Canyon County Fair this summer.

Incidentally, and not related to bovine, we had an interesting day yesterday. DH got a rusty, metal fleck in his eye Friday night. By Sunday morning, the pain was intolerable. A visit to the ER (no luck there) and then off to an Ophthalmologist's office to have the metal fleck bored out of his eye with a tiny drill (yes, yikes) and finally the ordeal was over. The Dr. was "funny." He was the doctor on call, hair sticking up in every direction. He must have been sipping his Sunday morning coffee when he got the call. Although, we were his second of the day...maybe he had no time to smooth down his out of control strands? After the procedure was done and DH was nearly tossing his cookies from the stress of the matter, Dr. Crazy Hair took great pleasure in describing how ferrous (ferric?) metal can wreak havoc on the eyeball. I thought DH was gonna hurl.

So early, early this morning, off to work DH went--but came home later this a.m. The cold air proved too much for his wounded eyeball. Understandable. But he was able to muster up the strength to jump in the truck and hitch a ride off to get the steer in waiting. :-)

Ferrous is from a Latin word meaning iron. That is why when you take iron supplements it is called Ferrous sulfate. And--why the symbol for iron on the periodic table is "fe".

Isn't Latin awesome!?

I am glad the man did not die, that he got the metal drilled out, and hr is now doing fine. Gee whiz, what a strong man.

And you are a very strong woman. The Cher trick always works, "Snap out of it!"
