Weighty Matters

My scale hates me. You know, the one that you stand on? And it taunts you and tells you how heavy you are? Yeah, that one. It hates me. And the feeling is mutual, so...

Hence the Y membership. Got a good deal changing our daughter's youth membership to a family membership; no sign-on fee. So, I took the hint and signed up the Fam.

So today is the day. Today I start moving. And eating less. No, I can't say "oh, I'm exercising! I need more calories." Duh. Tried that before and that's part of why I have such a fractured relationship with my scale. I need to be in harmony with the scale. Love the scale. Eat Less! Move More!

Yes, I know this is eerily timed to the same month that everybody else and their mother is getting started on their new year's resolutions. This is not a new year's resolution, though.

This is just because my scale needs to die. Or at least give me a number that I can deal with. :-)

So I need some inspiration - you're looking thinner in pictures...what's the good news on the weight-loss front? How long do I have before I can fit in my jeans?? :-)

Moving is really important. I know it makes a huge difference for me. Plus I think it's probably a good idea to ban snackage (food) in the late evening.

My helpful contribution.

Drink TONS of water, my friend. Up it to 10 plus glasses a day (especially if you are exercising). If you do not get the normal allotted amount your body will retain the water and you will have three pounds on you that really is not fat, but water! Plus, water flushes out that fat, the more you drink, so get going! AND---it supresses your appetite. Try drinking a hefty glass of ice water before a meal. Works like a charm.

Cut fat a bit, cut refined sugars as much as you can (you don't have to go crazy) and MOVE that body. You will find that you will get trim pretty fast.

AND one more thing. Get used to hunger pains. I have them every night before bed and I just have to ignore them. Get used to ignoring them (especially when you know you have had enough to eat).

Good luck and good for you!

what they said. :)

i would say that the first bunch of pounds comes off pretty easily because your body's metabollism really kicks in. the more you lose, the harder it gets, however. it's encouraging to lose faster at the beginning, though!!! so it's not all bad. i agree with the MOVING alot, drinking water, and not snacking before bed. im bad at these things! so this is encouraging to me!
try putting Propel Fitness powder in your water if you can't handle drinking so much all day long. plus, you'll go potty a lot and flush toxins out! yay! that's good, too! snacking is GOOD during the day--small meals! but not after like 7/8 o'clock... so i like to have a little sweet snack after dinner so that i don't feel cheated... but just not too late. it's hard work, but worth it when you see the changes!

one thing i will say is that i am just built more like dad and i will never be totally skinny. i have accepted that.
