On the road again and other ramblings.

Today #1 child and I leave for Athena, Oregon, for the Athena Caledonian Games. Sheep toss, log toss, sheep trials, and all things Irish and Scottish will go on this weekend. It's a really fun time. C will perform with others a jig or two on the stage in the city park. We'll consume funnel cake and steak sandwiches and even join in a parade. We went last year and had a great time. C's best friend will come along with us for the ride.

I bought a new swimsuit last night. Things weren't as bad as I thought they would be. It probably helps that the suit is black and NOT tight in all the wrong places. I tried the suit on last week, but the price was too high. I went in this week and voila! what do you know? The price went down $20. Patience is a virtue and apparently can also save you some green.

We moved the rooster out of the henhouse last night. He was having his way with the 150 girls at his disposal so he just had to go. We always get the chicks on Valentine's Day and they start laying on Independence Day. And wouldn't you know it, we got an egg yesterday. Yes, the first one from this lot! Very exciting stuff. Even more exciting is that it is a medium-sized egg and not a pee-wee like the Rhode Island Reds lay in the beginning. These are our new breed, a Barred Plymouth Rock. Anyway, we put the rooster in the bunny hutch because Snowflake died last week. It's a farming operation, so you gotta do what you gotta do. Hopefully he likes his new digs. He was crowing this morning and it sort of bounced off the house and warehouse for an echo effect. I wonder if he likes the new acoustics.

Will let you know how the Athena trip went. TTFN.

Have a good trip!! I went to the Fredericksburg Heritage Festival (hence all the soap info) and neglected to eat funnel cake even when it was my entire intent. Eat up for me!
